Natural Gas Ball Valve

Natural gas ball valve N10112004 is a classical design for European market, PN20 rated, O-ring stem structure which can prevent static electricity caused by handle opening and closing, provide better safety for flammable gas. Anti-lock nut protects the Natural gas ball valve handle from getting loose which may leads to stem leakage. Natural gas ball valve is a type of safety equipment for gas pipeline engineering, it is used to cut off, connect and adjust the gas in the pipeline, with good control characteristics and closing and sealing performance; suitable for city gas, liquefied petroleum gas, natural gas, Oxygen and other gas medium pipelines. 100% leakage test for each brass ball valve ensures reliable quality.  

Natural gas ball valve, one type of quarter turn valve, is quite literally a ball placed in a passageway through which fluid flows. The ball has a hole through it, by which the valve opens and closes. When the ball is positioned so that the hole runs the same direction as the passageway, the fluid simply flows through it, and the valve is open. The ball can also be positioned so that the hole is perpendicular to the passageway so that the fluid cannot pass through, and the natural gas ball valve is closed. It is controlled from the outside, often with a handle that is turned back and forth to open and close the natural gas ball valve.

We have low pressure gas ball valves, middle pressure gas ball valves, high press gas ball valves, super-high pressure gas ball valves. Low and middle pressure gas ball valves are mainly used for domestic and plumbing applications.

There are three different types of natural gas ball valves:

1). Full bore brass gas all valve offers no flow restriction, which means that when it is open, the liquid can flow freely through it. This is achieved by making the ball larger than the passage size, so that the hole can be the same size as the passage. 

2). Standard bore natural gas ball valve does not have an oversized ball, and as a result, the hole is one size smaller than the passageway. This creates a small amount of flow restriction as the fluid passes through. 

3). Reduced bore natural gas ball valve, on the other hand, has an smaller ball and an even smaller hole, which creates significant flow restriction as the fluid passes through it.

Thread types differ from markets and applications: BSP threads for Europe and NPT threads for North America, also other metric threads, which you must confirm before buying natural gas ball valves.

We currently work with HPb57-3 natural gas ball valves for most customers in Europe and Asia, CW617N natural gas ball valves for Europe, C377700 and lead free brass for North America.

Rough brass color, nickel-plating, and chrome-plating are most widely used surface treatments for natural gas ball valves. Plating helps to protect the brass valve from oxygen and look shining.

Flat handle and butterfly T-handle are available, the flat handle (normally made of steel) have longer opening torque and is easier to open and close the natural gas ball valves; the butterfly handle (normally made of aluminum) is most used for the applications that have limited space to operate the handle, and most applied for natural gas ball valves smaller than 1”.

1. Before installing natural gas ball valve, clean and remove any objects from the pipes (in particular bits of sealing and metal), which could obstruct and block the valves.

2. Ensure that both connecting pipes either side of the valve (upstream and downstream) are aligned (if they are not the natural gas ball valves may not work correctly).

3. Make sure that the two sections of the pipe (upstream and downstream) match, the natural gas ball valve will not absorb any gaps. Any distortions in the pipes may affect the tightness of the connection, the working of the valve and can even cause a rupture.

HPb57-3, HPb58-3, HPb59-1, HPb59-3 are most common materials used for China natural gas ball valves, which are acceptable for most countries in the world, except for those customers have special requirements.

HPb57-3, also called China Normal brass, a variant of CW614N brass, is a local industry standard, with little Fe contents in composition, and lower costs than CW614N. It’s widely used as a standardized material in China and accepted by most global markets and customers.

HPb58-3, is a variant of CW617N brass and commonly used for natural gas ball valves in China local market.

HPb59-1, has less Fe, Pb and higher price costs, it’s more used for high-quality products or market, such as brass fittings for USA market.

CW614N and CW617N brass materials are widely used for European natural gas ball valves.

CW617N brass has better physical property to stand higher working pressure and temperature, more importantly the Pb percentage share is less than 2.5% and applicable for drinking water systems, good for environment and people’s health.

CW614N Brass is also popularly used because of similar compositions and lower costs, suitable for those applications without much environmental requirements.

C46500 and C377700 are most widely used materials for USA brass valves.

As a requirement of AB1953 regulations, all the brass valve parts which contact the water shall have Pb content less than 0.25%, also called lead-free brass or no-lead brass, all the brass water valves for USA market, such as ball valves, brass gate valves, brass check valves, brass angle valves, have been compulsory to use lead free brass.

For those brass valves not for water use, such as brass radiator valves, heating valves, C377700, or China standard HPb59-1 brass materials are workable.

1. Brass raw materials are bought from local suppliers in forms of brass bars.

2. Brass bars are cut into smaller pieces with different sizes according to order requirements, heated with natural gas.

3. The heated brass bars are forged by forging machines, Out-comings are semi-finished rough natural gas ball valve bodies.

4. The rough brass  gas ball valve bodies are trimmed and cut off unnecessary parts.

5. The rough natural gas ball valve bodies are washed with sanding machines, to clean the dirty and oils during production.

6. The rough natural gas ball valve bodies are machined by CNC machinery for threads and dimensions.

7. The machined  natural gas ball valve bodies are nickel- or chrome-plated.

8. The brass gas valves are ready for delivery after final finished goods quality inspection.

Natural gas ball valve packing is very important for safe transport and brand appearance.

We pack natural gas ball valves in small inner boxes, then put into outer cartons, finally load in wooden pallets.

It will protect the goods well and can avoid damages and wet.

We also pack as per customers' OEM designs.

Our test laboratory equips with various devices for natural gas ball valve quality inspect and control, as well as new product development.

Equipment include material spectrometer analyzer, flow rate tester, torque tester, body resistance tester, endurance tester, high-low temperature tester.

These equipment enable us to analyze natural gas ball valve material compositions and type tests according to related standards, ensure our natural gas ball valves are correctly designed and produced.
